The SEAM organization integrates Safety, Environment & Asset Management activities, with a broad geographical footprint, that will support Shell’s business & assets around the world.

The vision of SEAM is to provide capability across the spectrum of Safety, Environment and Asset Management with:

• shaping the future ways of working through introducing to the business new technology and news way of working, including e.g. digital, SBO, and real-time, data-driven, end-to-end optimization and risk management, but also global programmes like Human Performance Based Safety Philosophy.

• providing performance feedback driving disciplined execution to deliver reliable, predictable results

• helping the businesses build their improvement plans and provide support to execute them

• sustaining performance through strong core capabilities (internal, including SBO & contingent) through building expertise and a company-wide consistent approach.

Purpose & Accountabilities

This Road Safety Advisor position is part of the Operational HSSE Supporting implementation of Group High Risk Transport Safety procedures, standards and guidelines for all businesses, influence internal and external stakeholders (contractors) in practicing pro-active HSSE Management.

Accountabilities

Member of a High-Risk Transport regional team Europe/Africa.

Accountable for cluster specific road safety plans that are embedded in the business, which are in line with Group strategies both for High Risk Transport.

Lead, motivate and coach the countries in High Risk Transport, enabling them to drive safety programmes across the businesses

Accountable to ensure that Contractor’s Capabilities (Road Transport Pillars assessments) are duly executed either by the oneself or through the business appointed assessors. Coach, supervise and assure that business appointed assessor execute Contractor’s Capabilities assessment to the expected standards.

Work and Influence the local Key stakeholders (Regional/cluster COB business managers and HSSE Managers) to ensure overall High-Risk Transport safety performance improvements are achieved and the High-Risk Transport Safety Program meets regional needs.

Work with the businesses to implement global High-Risk Transport Safety Standards, Tools and Best Practices within the countries.

Provide assurance for the classes of business to ensure compliance with regulatory, applicable industry and Shell road safety requirements.

Represent Shell in regional industry meetings, Road Safety related events

Influence, together with the COBs, hauliers and hired carriers to develop implement and monitor plans to improve transport HSSE performance and social investment programs within the United Nations decade of action

Participate in Group audits as Road Safety SME, transportation HSSE audits, facilitate incident investigations

Support regional and global team in different projects

Dimensions

This role will be a member of the regional Europe/Africa team reporting to the respective Team lead West.

The ideal candidate will be located in Turkey but others may be considered.

Skills & Requirements

Have a strong passion for road safety.

Operational experience such as working at a terminal/depot or road transport contract management.

Enjoy working with contractors, drivers and stakeholders.

Strong communications, collaborative, networking and stakeholder influencing skills.

Knowledge of road safety manuals and guides, technical road safety competencies and statutory requirements related to transport and the PMR

Ability to carry out investigations, audits and assurance, champion the sharing of best practices.

While the hubs will remain the core locations for SEAM, we will continue to use a distributed working model. This means that our preference is to appoint the best candidate for the job on local terms working virtually from their base country.

Positions in SEAM will require global travel and flexibility in working hours to manage communications across time zones in order to influence and support stakeholders and enable business performance. However, flexibility in recognition of diverse family situations will be considered.
