Job Description

Shell Mobility has an ambitious accelerated growth agenda to deliver US$1.5 bln incremental net earnings by 2025. Our recent strategies guide on material growth on the base as well as successful and intense inorganic acceleration program in e-mobility, traditional & new fuels, convenience retail and fleet/B2B businesses throughout Americas, core markets in Europe and East.

This role is part of the BD & Ventures team within Mobility Network. Mobility Network is the key place for growing and protecting value through increased investment, driving the Mobility energy transition and innovation. The specific focus would small-medium size inorganic projects like asset or equity acquisitions, JV formations and restructuring and also securing material commercial partnerships. Up to 20 transactions per year would be expected toward 2025.

Well planned and disciplined approach to implementation and integration workstreams greatly ensure the delivery of the promised commercial value and management of associated risks. It would require eye-for-details and great tenacity in managing internal work teams, diverse counterparties and external groups toward shared goals while protecting value for Shell.

Post Reshape, BD & Ventures look to develop this expert support (COE) role across the geography to guide and support related activities in deal teams and business units through a deal lifecycle, from early planning and structuring advice to implementation and value tracking post completion. It is committed to developing continuous improvement in Mobility’ ability to delivery measurable deal value by working in close partnership with the business teams.

What is the Role?
  • As the Deal Implementation Senior Associate, it is a senior role that need to adapt external and A&D best practices into Mobility’s Inorganic capability framework and tools.
  • Ideally, this position should be in Europe to cater to time zone of East and Americas.
  • The Deal Implementation Senior Associate will lead and co-lead all implementation efforts that are part of our Mobility BD & Ventures initiatives by supporting the local/regional business teams during implementation planning and execution. 
  • This role will work on implementation of business-led deals with the possibility to partner with the A&D Implementation team on high headline/high risk/high complexity deals which are generally run by A&D Deal Leads.
  • The specific role that the Deal Implementation Senior Associate will play in each inorganic business-led opportunity will depend on the deal’s complexity and the resources availability from the local business. 
  • The Deal Implementation Senior Associate role will cover a wide range of possible responsibilities that will go from directly leading (owning) all implementation efforts OR to support the local business lead (acting as implementation lead) as an advisor. Thought this, he or she will have the opportunity to coach and develop others through the implementation journey during the delivery of specific implementation plans and the execution of such plans.
  • In addition, the Deal Implementation Senior Associate will support the Mobility team to comply with all elements of the Shell Control Framework (SCF), including Shell General Business Principles (SGBP) and Code of Conduct and the Binding Corporate Rules (BCRs) as per the guidance provided by Downstream in regards the integration for Portfolio Companies (DSPC). 
  • Integration’ means that the DSPCs business is assimilated into Shell business activities and processes by adding new processes, technology, business models, etc. to those of Shell or by transitioning to use existing Shell processes, technology, business models, etc. IT Integration would be merging Shell and PC IT architectures. PCs will adopt many of Shell’s global processes and tools. Integration may look different for each PC depending upon the nature of its activities, processes, and systems.

Key accountabilities include

  • Framing and developing the implementation approach to ensure value delivery in BD&V-led transactions. 
  • Setting clear accountabilities and objectives to drive the successful completion, handover and measurement of inorganic projects with the business and functions.
  • Influencing at all levels in the organization to gain buy-in across stakeholders spread across a wide range of business and geographies.
  • Set up and management of multi-disciplinary implementation project teams by pulling together broad experience and skillsets across the organization.
  • Managing and influencing a broad range of external (counterparties, government and interest groups) and all levels of internal stakeholders (Line-of-Sight, functional, business and corporate MOAs).
  • In delivering value, key elements to be managed will be the safe transition of the asset, that appropriate governance and controls are in place and that the assurance and controls meet the risk profile. The delivery of value in deals are critical deliverables.
  • Ensure the consolidation of expertise and refine the approach to deal implementation resulting in tangible improvements in effectiveness and efficiency for future projects.

What We Need from You?

Hard skills

  • Knowledge or rapid learning of of Mobility Retail operations, operating/business/investment models, sites & network assessment for e-Mobility, tradition, new fuels (both biofuels and Hydrogen re-fueling) and CR/NFR would be required.
  • Experience of working within ORS process would be a strong edge.
  • Demonstrated track record in delivering high value, multi-disciplinary projects against specific (and sometimes accelerated) timeframes in different cultures and business segments.
  • Ability to lead large cross-functional teams and experts focusing on collective outcome of successful deal delivery and value capture for Shell, manage multi project priorities and deployment of finite resources and expertise accordingly.
  • Ability to build a pragmatic deal value delivery model based on precise project economics specific for Mobility.
  • Demonstrated track record of successful influencing ability, and strong effective stakeholder management across a range of businesses, functions and geographies.
