Purpose
Main responsibility for the Advisor Role will be to advice and get alignment on how to oversee, organize and execute the whole preparation for all Turkish statutory reporting, where various stakeholder offshore and onshore will be in charge to deliver parts.
Furthermore, the role requires to act as close support to the Corporate FM in leading Turkish Controller responsibilities in operations assuring sustainably high quality of Turkish Statutory Financial Statements, and providing financial advice to business finance, Finance Operations, and other stakeholders in a complex and virtual environment, where main stakeholders are in various service centers. Insofar, the job requires additionally excellent communication to the various stakeholders, also on senior level.
Accountabilities
• To advise a framework where Statutory Reporting of STAS and SCTL is consistently produced by addressing all the recurring issues outlined as part of Project Gordion.
• Launching a Blackline Reconciliation tool whereby all S-accounts are assigned to Preparers, Reviewers, Approvers across Onshore and Offshore Teams for STAS and SCTL.
• Producing the Work Instructions with cooperation with Onshore Tax Team, Finance Operations and Project Gordion team.
• Address the issue of prime accountability for Statutory Reporting for Shell Company Turkey LTD and Shell & Turcas Petrol A.S
The incumbent will advise/clarify on the responsibilities in the area of statutory reporting for STAS and SCTL to make sure the following tasks are owned:
• Oversee and organize the whole preparation of Turkish statutory accounts in compliance with Turkish GAAP (VUK)
• Prepare statutory accounts parts, which are required in Turkish language or legally must be performed in country
• Review of statutory accounts parts, which are prepared in FO or other teams
• Accompany external audit onshore; deliver audit documentation as required
• Prepare statutory accounts for small entities not in scope for migration to FO
• Provide statutory accounting advise to FiB and FO; ensure that statutory accounts are in line with local legal law, and with law changes reflected
• Deliver statutory accounting training where required (especially in change situations)
• Ensure CI on statutory reporting processes
• Support finance projects cross business
Management of Key Relationships
• Work in close cooperation with R&A Turkey and various other FO teams responsible for the preparation and management of the Turkish reporting activities, as well as with GRA ensuring effective controls environment
• Ensure close collaboration with Business Finance to ensure a solid controllership base and support the business to create value
• Liaise with external and internal auditors
• Initiate and lead process improvements (CI), provide expertise and advise in financial reporting and financial controls environment
• Contribute and take leadership for finance projects and networks, also cross business and integrating FO (also in regional and global environment)

Special Challenges
• The Turkish Finance team operates in a sizable and very complex Turkish Finance environment as well as a multi sector/ multi business finance organization with various strong DS businesses. The senior finance advisor has responsibilities within his/her controller role for the whole Turkish finance environment.
• The complex environment and size of the Turkish business impacts the core controller role to provide accounting guidance/advise and assure quality of the Turkish F/S.
• Challenge of the Senior Advisor is to define the responsibilities of Statutory Reporting - The advisor has to organize and oversee a complex process where several main stakeholders and input providers are located in FO, FiB and tax. Some parts of the preparation of the statutory financial statements are local (for language and legal reasons) and must be delivered by multiple people with a high quality.
• Excellent business understanding is key to provide controller assurance and to be able to act as effective business partner.
• Connecting and communicating with many finance stakeholders in Business Finance, in the various SBSC finance teams, in group finance and with auditors is an important part of the Finance advisor role. Challenge is to guide and advise these stakeholders with clear focus on quality of Turkish financial statements.
• Strong relationship building and influencing skills will be called upon to successfully deliver in the role. The advisor will need to balance the controller role with that of being supportive as a strong business partner.
