General Position Definition
The post holder will perform Manage Indirect Tax (MIT) and project analyst role with a 2-year fixed-term to support clearing the backlogs (Bank Letter of Guarantee, Excise Duty refunds, Export Conditional sales) and look for opportunities to improve process gaps in MIT area in coordination with the Finance Operation MIT, Trading & Supply and Lubricants Supply Chain teams. He/she will be reporting to Country Tax Manager of Shell Turkey and dotted-line reporting to Manage Indirect Tax, Senior Team Manager.
Purpose
Ensure appropriate settlements of indirect taxes compliance activities in Shell Turkey companies including backlog clearance and process improvement.
Accountabilities
• Coordinate and lead BLG back log clearance projects for fuels and lubricants- Ensure all relevant stakeholders take the required actions -acts as a contact to tax office.
• Follow the current BLG claims and red flag any possible backlog possibility,
• Support Biodiesel Production data/report project on Biodiesel BLG backlogs,
• Supervise ED refund processes including OTVIRA controls and act as a contact to the tax office on ED refunds/OTVIRA clearance for fuels and lubricants
• Provide indirect tax data to tax audits, request data from other stakeholders when necessary, review the data provided by other stakeholders before submission to the authorities,
• Follow the updates on e-tax office and related software, inform all the related parties regarding required actions,
• Workshops with stakeholders to understand process gaps and bottlenecks and improvement areas (business units, R&A, customs advisor, external parties (tax office, Sworn financial advisors, etc.)
• Initiate ideas to improve the process – quick wins, automation and lead CI projects
• Coordinate VAT refund claims, determine any improvement areas in the process, data quality and automation,
• Follow the deferred ED and VAT processes (Tecil terkin) and finalize the deferred tax cancellation with the tax office.

• Assurance of Indirect Tax Compliance in assigned scope with special focus on preparation of indirect tax returns figures, attachments and supporting documentation.
• Improvements of Systems, Process and Stakeholders relations within end-to-end Indirect Tax Process.
• Provide coaching and advise for colleagues from the team.
Reporting dimensions:
• Main Businesses: Mobility (Retail, Lubricants), Trading & Supply, Aviation, Marine, Chemical activities
• Number of Legal entities: 2 (Shell & Turcas Petrol A.Ş., The Shell Company of Turkey
• Amount of Indirect tax payments in 2020 is 4.600 mln TL.
• Excise Duty refund is subject to OTVIRA controls (ED refunds for 24 period per year due to lubricants exports and biodiesel sales), all subjected to tax investigation.
• Excise Duty refund for lubricants and biodiesel sales (Average annual refund 80 mln TL)
• STAŞ needs annually usage of BLG is 0,8 b TL, total BLG unresolved is 3 b TL.
• VAT refund for aviation sales (Average annual refund 10 mln TL)
• Deferred ED and VAT processes is subjected to KDVIRA controls
Special Challenges
• Processes are heavily loaded towards deadlines for indirect tax returns which may require additional hours at critical times.
• Cooperation with many stakeholders (FO MIT/AP/AR, Indirect tax departments, local businesses, etc.)
• Constantly updating knowledge about local indirect tax related regulations, process and business
• Demonstrate very good knowledge of the functioning of feeding processes (AP/AR, MHI)
• Working across functional boundaries & and various locations - dotted reporting line to Finance Operation Manage Indirect Tax, located in Shell Business Operation - Krakow
