Shell's Supply Chain has updated its operating model to better leverage the company's portfolio scale, with the creation of the SVP Strategic Categories & Suppliers organization at its core. The GM Supply Chain Production & Logistics organization focuses on delivering competitive supply chain deals, optimizing critical categories, and managing senior business stakeholder relationships. It also focuses on unlocking value through strategic supplier management for the Production & Logistics cluster, implementing logistics strategies like Logistics as a Service/4PL models, and establishing a Chemicals Hub to support the full chemicals procurement portfolio. Production and Logistics’ organization manages over $1.6 billion in annual spend and is accountable for the performance and development of 5 strategic suppliers critical to Shell’s success. By leading category management for critical areas including logistics, chemicals, and safety, environment, and inspections, the team plays a pivotal role in ensuring supply chain resilience, cost competitiveness, and operational excellence across the company’s global operations to create long-term value for both organizations.
Position Purpose:
Supply Chain Delivery/Logistics is a key supply chain activity within Shell and has a proven track record of significant contributions to Shell’s Powering Progress Together ambitions. The SC Lead Asset and Projects Logistics will support the SC Manager Delivery GDH Logistics in the Centre of Excellence for Functional SC Delivery/Logistics knowledge and Global Logistics Discipline to support Assets and Projects, including Aviation, Marine, and Land Transport of Materials and People; Operation of Terminals, Supply Bases, Warehouses and Yards; and management and disposal of Waste and hazardous materials. By driving excellence, commerciality and safety in E2E SC Delivery/Logistics operations across Shell’s Operations in Assets & Projects and supporting the Contractors Safety Program for Shell.
Accountability:
o Lead the delivery of Logistics and Infrastructure (L&I) related activities such as Desk Top Reviews, Scouting Reports, LIRAs, Execution Strategies and Plans, Operating Philosophies and Special Studies for Assets and Projects across RDS.
o Lead the Logistics Front End Engineering activities to projects, NBD, exploration and other opportunities across Shell to ensure the SC Delivery/Logistics aspects are adequately addressed during early development phases.
o Drive design and implementation of innovative logistics solutions in collaboration with GCMs for Logistics, Suppliers and local operations;
o Accountable to provide Logistics TA2 assurance for assigned projects to ensure implementation of Logistics deliverables as per DCAF/PCAP framework and Logistics Discipline Standards/control points.
o Contribution to Operational Readiness aspects with OR/CSU team and MSC P2A incl. staffing plans for operations; and ensure overall alignment on Logistics delivery for projects.
o Provide Logistics Functional guidance and Subject Matter Expertise (SME) to maintain or achieve Logistics Excellence in Assets operating in Steady State or turn-around activities.
o Drive SEAM MSC and Shell HSSE standards and guidelines while developing and implementing Logistics Solutions.
o Manage global logistics HSE exposure and implement mitigation plan for Assets & Projects across Shell for Assets & projects.
o Develop and maintain Global logistics benchmarking on a monthly basis
Key Skills & Requirements
o A minimum of bachelor’s degree in the Engineering, sciences or related disciplines
o More than 10 years of experience in the Logistics discipline, with a minimum of 5 years proven leadership role in Logistics operations.
o Must be or must become within 6 months accredited Logistics TA2.
o Proven capability in leading and influencing natural teams in and across assets
o Excellent and proven HSE Leadership skills
o Proven Subject Matter expertise and technical knowledge on Logistics
o Effective communication and training/facilitation skills.
o Able to coach and work in a multi-ethnic society.
o Strong interpersonal and influencing skill with customer focus.
o Pre & post tender contract management skills through experience as CP Lead, Contract Holder and/or Contract Owner of Logistics contracts
o Extensive experience across multiple Shell businesses both at a local and global level
o Global role, willingness to work flexible working hours is required
Special Challenges / Other Information
This is a global role with significant elements of working through others, integrating across internal and external interfaces, delivering without direct authority. As such it requires skills in the areas of:
o Excellent communication and collaboration skills as well as proven results delivery through others.
o Engagements with and managing various stakeholders including Shell EC-2, other Shell functions (Wells, Exploration, etc.), JV partners, Government officials and suppliers and being able to ensure value for Shell is maintained.
